topic of the evening: recent thunderstorm 4/18

The recent thunderstorm: was horrific! Really, even with all the rain that bombarded us during Ike, that was nothing compared to this (at least in my subdivision). They had expanded our retention pond directly behind my home to accommodate after Ike, but it was no good. The entire front of our street was flooded that a car had stalled in the middle of the storm and a woman and child had to find shelter in a neighbor’s home. When asked, she said that she was scared it would leak into the interior of her vehicle. So she got while she could.

Andres took a picture of the car, but you can’t tell it’s empty or that the hazard lights are blinking. Every time a truck passed by, there was a wave towards our front lawn. This is the water when it had receded quite a bit. I had to move my car into the garage since our home is somewhat on an upward slope.

Also, in the front yard where the curbside sewer entrance is, there was a sort of whirlpool. I couldn’t tell whether the water was having trouble going down or the sewer was backing up.

The last time there was a terrible thunder and lightning storm, Andres (the idiot) went to end of the driveway to do handstands in the rain.
My father dared him to do it again. 8)

Another update? Take it!

So...sorry.

Anyway, I'm jumping back on the wagon. Starting by re-vamping the list of what I'll 'blog' about. BTW, who the fuck started calling it 'blog'?

So the list entails:

Want an update? I've got one!

Been waiting, impatiently, for my dumb laptop to get back from the Sony fix-it place. And it's back, but still not fixed. :/ So I'm stuck to an ethernet cord. My very own umbilical. Anyway, I'll start tomorrow.

movie review (#1): Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa

Awesome! Ultimately my favorite characters are the Penguins and King Julien.

King Julien's voice has me cracking up all the time. My husband makes so much fun of me because everytime I talk to Andy, I end up impersonating him. It's hilarious.

My father L-O-V-E loves this movie. He watches it all the time. There are some 'drop on the floor, roll around, side splitting, tear spilling' funny-ass moments in this movie. I reccommend it, no joke. There's so many "double meaning" moments in here.

The Penguins are hilarious. Here's a few videos :)

Go rent it! Hell, go BUY it!

topic of the evening: littlebigplanet sackboys!

Are the damn cutest thing.

So, I am an avid player of LittleBigPlanet. These little sackboys are cuteness overload. Have you seen these things? It's like Gir. Tenfold. Awesome!

When I play this, I love it. Dressing him up is awesome. What sucks is that you have to go through all the levels to get the dress-up items :(

So, another cute thing these sackboys do is... die. Really! It's awesomely cute :) I'll try to find a video to show you. Ok, so I couldn't find a video. Whatever.

The costumes can get pretty cute and really specific. It's hard to put pictures, though. So I'll try in another post.

topic of the evening: ftlo: rj

For the Love of Ray J. (episode 2)
Who I Think Should Win: Danger
Who Gets Voted Off: Genuine and Atomic Bomb

So, in this episode, some shit went down, but not alot.

They did some video chat, and that was stupid. All these retarded girls. First, this girl named"Atomic Bomb" takes forever to put on a corset that she made. He's falling asleep at his computer. Then, this other retarded white girl named "Lil Hood" (because her friends call her the 'ghetto barbie') tries to rap in her underwear, but just comes off as an even bigger idiot than the other girls. She actually says something that amounts to spanking Ray J so hard, he can't shit.

That sounds like medieval torture. 0_0

Then this girl, "Chardonnay" can't seem to stop doing the split and bouncing up and down. She calls herself the human banana split cause she was eating a banana simultaneously. Suggestively.

Anyway!

Then, come to find out that this UGLY-ass girl, "Genuine" is all here for exposure and she's broadcasting it like it's nothing. Biznitch.

At elimination, he continues to state that he can't understand a damn thing that "Caviar" is saying. And neither can half the girls. She's from Russia with a heavy accent!

Ray J is an idiot.

Chardonnay: the human banana.

Things I find interesting.

Dun duh nuh nuh!

my day: 5 Hour Energy Shot.

Big mistake.

So, my husband works nights. That means he goes to work at 9 p.m. and he comes home in the wee hours of the morning. Usually anywhere from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. Now, the problem is that I don't hit the sack till about 2 a.m., so I don't wake up till 12 in the afternoon. Despite this, my husband and I came to the agreement that he will watch the baby for me till I wake up. With that being, he doesn't go to sleep till 12 in the afternoon and wakes at 8 p.m. to get ready for work.

So, putting that little explanation out the way, onto the topic.

While Andres was on his lunch break at 1 a.m., I called and told him that he had to stay up because we had errands to do today. I told him, "Andres, you have to stay up - even if you need to take a 5 Hour Energy Shot.

He's taken one before, but only while he needed it at work. Well, never again.

He was speaking a mile a minute in the backseat of the car! Here's just one of our conversations:

"Hey. Hey, babe. You know that thing they had at Astroworld? That thing where you fly through the sky? You know what I'm talking about, babe? That thing where you'd go real high in the sky? Babe, it was Astroworld. Babe, are you listening?"
"Yes, Andres. Bungee jumping."
"No, it wasn't bungee jumping. It was through the sky not up and down. Bungee jumping is where you go way the hell down and the other one, the one I'm talking about it's where you go through it. It's not that crazy ass bungee jumping."
"It is, same place."
"No you go from point one to point b."
I take a glance in  the rearview mirror to question what he just said.
"Or point a to point b. Whatever. You know what I'm talking about? It was at Astroworld. Where you go whoosh through the sky. It's-"
"YES, Andres, ok, I know. What about it?"
"I would never do that."

I almost pulled the car over. Blegh.

Forty minutes later, he's knocked out in the backseat with the baby crying for some affection. The absolute last time I ask Andres to take one of those 5 Hour Energy Shots

Last time, he fell asleep with the baby next to him mid-videogame.

list (#1): my top five romance&adventure movies

It has to be said, 'romance and adventure' purely because I have other favorites in romance that are cross-bred with sci-fi, supernatural, tragedy, history, fantasy, and horror. And of course, the 'no-happy-ending' genre.

I know what you're thinking... 'what movie has no happy ending'? I can name three off the bat. Romeo and Juliet. Quarantine. The Break-Up. There is one thing in common for these movies. No. Happy. Ending.

On to the topic of the evening
My Top Five Romance&Adventure Films.

One.
Deep Impact (1998)

Starring Notable Actors: Elijah Wood, Tea Leoni, Morgan Freeman, Leelee Sobieski, James Cromwell.

Romantic Couple: Elijah Wood and Leelee Sobieski.

Why I love it?: Not only was it one of the first movies I've seen with this premise, but it was a great movie for it's time. End of the world was done the next year with Armaggaedon. I wasn't fond of Armaggaedon and cracked up when Superstar parodied the scene when Ben Affleck sings to Liv Tyler before he saves the world. Oh, and btw in Deep Impact, they DO NOT blow up the meteor. That's what makes it so much better. There's a sense that this is what happens when normal people try to save the world and fuck up. Everyone expecting the meteor to be blown to smithereens and suddenly, "Houston, we have a problem," followed by sobs from mission control. It's great, really.

Two.
The Fifth Element (1998)

Starring Notable Actors: Milla Jovovich, Bruce Willis, Ian Holm, and Gary Oldman.

Romantic Couple: Bruce Willis and Milla Jovovich

Why I Loved It?: Milla plays an absolutely wonderful innocent girl. The chain of events towards the end is what made my heart stop. Waterworks come easily to me. But either way, its troubling when some horrible fate comes to an innocent person. In the last chain of events, the protaganist isn't protecting the love interest and she can die. She almost dies. And it's heartbreaking.

Three.
The Island (2005)

Starring Notable Actors: Ewan Macgregor, Scarlett Johansson, Djimon Hounsou, Sean Bean.

Romantic Couple: Ewan Macgregor and Scarlett Johansson

Why I Loved It?: Reminds me of a book I had to read in tenth(?) grade entitled "Brave New World". The idea of an alternate society, or reality is beautiful. Although in Brave New World, it was because Henry Ford made a bigger impact than just modifying production. In The Island, it was due to vast advances in cloning, and a decline in moral standards. The deception, the twists, and the moral questions are what make it a wonderful movie.

Four.
Watchmen (2009)

Starring Notable Actors: Malin Akerman, Billy Crudup, Matthew Goode, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Patrick Wilson.

Romantic Couple: Malin Akerman and Patrick Wilson

Why I Loved It?: Beautiful movie. The music was great and corresponded so well with the scenes. It was tragic in that so many hearts were broken and such dark themes were pursued. The unsettling idea of "kill a million to save a billion" is part of that controversary. Necessary murder; choosing the lesser of two evils. Touchy subject. So in the movies, two former superheroes have to overcome a few obstacles to find love. But the movie already has a rough relationship with what the idea of love is. There's rape, forced love, cheating, losing sexual attraction, and causing pain to those you love.

Five.
The Matrix (2003)

Starring Notable Actors: Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, Hugo Weaving, and Monica Belluci, Jada Pinkett Smith

Romantic Couple: Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss

Why I Loved It?: Who didn't? Another extreme alternate reality, so it was a favorite of mine. My father prides himself on his surround sound system that he's built over the years, so anytime we watch this movie, it is BLARING in our home! Not everyone appreciates it, though. Besides that, the movies' romantic basis sort of falls into the category of no happy ending. Let's face it, through his death, his exile to a train station, and his intimate kiss with another woman (not to mention nearly dying so many times to save himself, her, or his entire human race) they still manage to stay madly in love. BUT both characters die in the end! Wtf?!

So there you go!

my beginning.

To be honest, I don't write any more. It's been too long. My writing has been praised before, but none of the encouragement really stuck. I haven't heard it from the right person.

This October, I gave birth to my baby boy, Andy. His full name is Andres Omar Aceves. He is the Sun to my Earth (corny joke symbolizing that my life revolves around him). He is the life my husband and I created.

Pause.
You heard right, my husband and I. Eighteen and married is quite a feat. No, it wasn't an extravagant wedding, but my family was there, we stated our vows, and exchanged rings; it was beautiful to me.

I started this blog because of a culmination of many things. First, a great friend of mine, Javier S., started his own a few days ago, and it re-ignited an interest in writing for me. Second, I'd just seen the film Watchmen and something about the subtle political thinker overwhelmed me. It was intense. That was how I described it to my previously stated friend, Javi. Third, was chance. A couple days ago I went to Half Priced Books off NasaRd1 here in Houston with my aunt. In the car, she asked me whether I had thought about pursuing writing. I told her how I had pieces I'd written scattered throughout my rooms, but I had a case of writers block. After reading Javier's blog, I quit the block and started the blog.

There isn't one thing my blog will contain. I'll probably post pieces I can't finish. Poems I found ridiculous. Pictures I find hilarious. More than likely, I'll write about people in life, or out of it; their quirks, gossip, memories, more gossip, and maybe just to talk about them. I might not even know anything about them. I will definitely write about my family, my silly day to day life. And most certainly the people I hate.

Is that quality writing? No. Does it make me immature? Maybe. Does it cure my boredom and give me something to do? Abso-fucking-lutely. Here goes.
